SuperMan Theme

"Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound!"

"Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!"

My brother-in-law Steve had his birthday. He had eyes on collecting things and one of his favorite collectable collections are DVD's such as the hit TV Series Smallville Superman completed DVD series. So given this facts about him on his birthday celebration i made him this cool Superman cake made of course with his favorite flavor cake - Double Chocolate cake with homemade MM fondant.

Up, up and away!
Happy Birthday Superman Steve! :)

Bicycle Theme

I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing long weekend last week and yes, weekend is almost here once again so what's your plan for the weekend?

For Yummy Keyks first cake in July 2012, i was asked to do a Bicycle theme cake. It's for their boss birthday cake and their department will celebrate it at downtown Toronto office. She said their boss likes bikes and they would like to order a special customized cake for him. For the cake flavor i was asked to split 2 flavors. Her first pick was Mocha since mocha cake is one of Yummy Keyks best seller flavored cake. Then she decided the cake flavor split half and half between Mocha cake in Super Mocha Buttercream filling and other half is Ube Macapuno cake (Purple Yam cake with shredded sweet coconut - this cake flavor is very famous amongst Filipinos) in fresh milk buttercream icing with shredded coconut filling. Here's the bicycle cake:

Top of the cake was made of MM Fondant
and
side of the cake is made of Vanilla Buttercream Frosting
Happy Birthday, Abi!
Hope you enjoyed your day and this cake :)

Yummy Keyks Insights:
I like riding bicycle too. For me, riding a bicycle is like freedom and life. It can get you anywhere without a worry because you don’t require any gas only freewill and you can go anywhere wherever that path will leads you. How fast or slow you’re going to your destination is really up to you...

Spider Man Theme

It's been a busy month for Yummy Keyks and whenever i'm creating yummy cakes I'm so trilled, excited and thankful.  All the cakes made by Yummy Keyks are guaranteed home baked fresh, artsy, customized to needs and most importantly, yummy!

By the way, i'm so happy with the Halo cake outcome last week (see it here). I enjoyed making this stuff and boy, fun doesn't end there. I received a message from my cousin asking me to make a cake for a boy who's turning 2 years old this week. I'm so flattered that my cousin likes to be one of YK's client. Since there's a new Spider-Man movie that will show in the theatre this long weekend I choose Spider Man to be this boy birthday theme for the cake. So without further adieu, sit back and relax because Amazing Spider-Man is here in the city. Check it out!

Happy Birthday to Matin! I hope he likes this Spiderman inspired cake :)

This is a 2 tier cake made of Chocolate cake with Vanilla Buttercream
in MM Fondant.
Back of the cake. I owe my brother for this tall building at the back.
I can tell his a Spiderman watcher.
This is the right side. I created buildings and night stars.

Front view
Spiderman and it's logo is wicked! Don't you agree?!
Ready for pick up!
All box up!

My favorite line from Spider-Man:
Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words:
"With great power comes great responsibility."
This is my gift, my curse. Who am I? I'm Spider-man.

Halo Theme

I was asked to do a Halo cake theme for a colleague son's 13th birthday celebration last Thursday. I wasn't sure what it was since i don't really play any Xbox game (what ashame i know, lol). She shown me some pictures what she wants me to create for her son. I was really happy that her handsome son and a CERTIFIED Halo Saga fan really liked it!

Cake was made of Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Custard filling.
Covered with MM fondant.

The head of Master Chief Petty Officer John 117 was made of MM fondant.

 Finally, boxing the cake...

Another master piece of Yummy Keyks ready for pick up!

Thank you Dasig Family!
YK is looking forward to do business with you again.

A Customized Birthday Cake Theme

Levi has turned 3 and her mom asked me to make a customized cake for Levi which consists of his 3 favorite characters : Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Caillou and Thomas the Train. I did some sketching to customize the cake for Levi. She like the concept and here's the out come:

This was a 4 tier cake made of vanilla cake with custard filling
and chocolate cake with chocolate frosting in MM fondant.
(Excuse the background appearance)

The venue is ready as well as the yummy cake!!!
The very cute birthday boy was so happy and know each character by heart.
He can tell her mom who they are and almost wanted to play with them.
It turns out Levi had fun and amazing time on his birthday.
To Mr and Mrs Didiano, hope to do business with you again!
Grazie!

Father's Day

I grew up close to my mom and i guess it's because my father (when i was 5 years old which i don't remember the exact age) went to UAE for work. Every time he comes home from abroad every 2 years or more it felt strange because i'm not used to see a father figure around that time. But as i get older i understand why he needs to go. It's because he needs to support and give a better future for his family. For me, that's the essence of being a Father to take care of his family and no matter what stick through thick and thin. As time goes by, i know him more and more. My dad grew up with golden spoon in his mouth but despite all of the things he had in his younger years he aged as a humble, discipline, clean, God-fearing, kind and sincere person. He loves music, dance, sports and most of all "HIS THE BEST LOOKING FATHER EVER". I think i got some of his talents and looks, lol. I'm very proud that his my father! I salute you, Tatay! We love you!!!

This cake was made of Chocolate cake with custard filling
and vanilla buttercream frosting in MM fondant.

To all the Dad's and Mom's playing Father role Happy Father's day!
Enjoy your day!

Lightening McQueen Theme

My cousin's son Aiden turn 2 years older today. I made him a surprise birthday cake for the cute birthday boy. At first, I don't know what theme should i make but then typical boy likes to play mostly cars, right?. I ask myself "Who's the most known car character for the boys?" Alas, it's Disney Pixar character Lightening McQueen from Disney. Here it is:

Cake is made of Marshmallow fondant in Chocolate cake
with chocolate buttercream frosting.
